White Internal Wooden Doors -Furniture Polish

I have painted white internal wooden doors which get dirty quick.Is it okay to use furniture polish on them , and if so is beeswax better?

Furniture polish isn't to remove dirt. I would use warm soapy water.

If they're glossed they should come clean with soapy water.

I don't understand why you would want to polish over paint?

Yep, a soapy wash or something like flash will clean them, where as polish will gloss over the grime and seal it in nicely.

Damp cloth with a bit of flash does it for me..polish only works on real wood !

In my house of boys it's a damp cloth and bleach...

Any furniture polish used on doors will make later overpainting almost impossible. The door would have to be stripped first.

There's a Zinzeer primer/stainblock that sorts that out now heathfield.

i am aware of soap/water method.I just thought that after clean , polish would be better at keeping dirt off?

Zinzeer is a shellac that will stop stains and wood resins that would otherwise bleed through other paints. Trying to apply it over a silicon or wax furniture polish wouldn't work. Even if it took to the surface, once dry, you'd be able to scratch it off with your fingernail.

You de-grease it 1st with meths heathfield.

There are several solvents that would do the job. But to make sure all the polish is thoroughly removed is not an easy task. Much easier not to apply the polish in the first place.

Polish is for the finish not to deter more dirt. I'd use any kitchen spray with bleach on white gloss. It's quick so not a faff to keep on top of. You're not going to stop dirty marks re-appearing.

Surely you have enough housework to do without polishing your doors. I have white internal doors but they don't get dirty that quickly. When I see a mark, I use a damp cloth and rub it off.
