Recording from digital tv

I have a Sony digital tv and a panasonic VCR. I bring up channel AV3 on the tv when I wish to play videos. I have tried to tune in the video using this channel so that it picks up the additional stations to BBC1 & 2, ITV, Channel 4 & 5, but nothing else comes up. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

You have to change the AV mode/source ON THE VCR HANDSET so that it displays the Freeview signal............you can't tune individual channels as with the normal five channels..........there should be a button on the VCR hand set to do this................you will notbe able to record a freeview channel and watch another Freeview channel at the same time for that reason but you cand watch one of the analogue channels and record a Freeview channel together......commoner.
