Has anyone called into the late night show Quizmania on ITV...usually starts around midnight? I'm tempted to ring through and have a go but wondered if it is going to cost a fortune, despite the host saying it only costs 60p a call. Also what is the likelyhood of actually getting selected to have a guess?
DON`T. This sort of quiz has been the subject of many threads on Answerbank and the unaminous decision is ITS a CON They charge a fortune just to connect to the computer (no matter what they say) and it`s just about impossible to actually give your answer. There is no logic at all to the answer, even if you do eventually manage to get one, the questions are purposely designed to look easy but I assure you many on here who really are mathematicians just cannot fathom out an answer.
Thanks dominoe, I was wondering. I guess I'll just continue watching then. It's quite entertaining with a late night cuppa. Makes a change from the open university, or re-runs of the antique roadshow for nightowls like myself !
I agree with dominoe, it is a big con! Do you notice they say all calls cost 50p even if you do not get picked. With the length of time the programme is on, they are making a fortune! Try watching Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps if you cannot sleep, at least it is a good laugh!
I've noticed that the host keep's saying "hit the re-dial button", I suppose that 60p could soon mount up to 6 or more in a matter of minutes. Some of the winners when asked what they were going to do with their winnings reply "pay for the phone bill". Maybe they're not kidding !
I once complained to ICSTIS (regulatory body for premium-rate phone lines) as there was one particular puzzle that had so incensed my husband I felt I had to do something - he is normally such a placid soul! They did investigate (took ages to reply though) and although they said they had had many complaints, I didn't really get anywhere. I agree with the others here - don't be tempted!!
