recently purchased a second hand Renault Megane and the offside headlamp is brighter (full beam) than the nearside ( others drivers keep flashing) I changed the bulb and made sure it is the correct one but its still too bright. Any ideas why

Bit of a long shot but worth looking closely and comparing with other local Meganes.
Only other things I can think of are to take out both bulbs and look closely at design/serial numbers to see if they're a matched pair.
While they're out, compare the fittings. There should be a 'right way up' and tabs which stop you fitting the bulb upside down.
Lastly, is there an adjuster wheel on the dashboard to control the amount of dip according to how many persons on board? (Stopgap adjustment while you sort out a permanent fix).
