Fire Logs

Some one has said that savings can be made by cutting fire logs in two. Have tried to cut with a saw but no luck. Don't want to use electric knife. Any advice?

Savings? How so? Isn't that just the equivalent of putting smaller lumps of coal on the fire?

I would guess they would burn quicker (greater surface area).

not good at lighting my stove without using fire log to start, this works out quite expensive so hoped to be able to use a half one

Ah well, that's different. I'd give it a go (providing there are no warnings on the packaging against cutting into them!!!)

Sorry, I have no idea. Hacksaw I would guess but there may be a risk of the friction setting it alight!

why don't you use firelighters and kindling?

Cheaper than the fire logs

I use a hot air stripper to light mine. It's also good for lighting barbecues, which doesn't happen very often as I don't have a barbi!

If you are near a home bargains store, they do very good firelogs for 99p. They also do heat logs.
