Bought a DVD recorder early January which drove us mad because it would not stay on standby, you just had to walk past it and the thing would come on. Took it back had it replaced with the same make Packard Bell, and it is doing the same thing. It seem to stay on standby for longer periods if you use the button on the machine rather than the remote any ideas

take it back to the shop, tell them you are rejecting it cos it's not fit for the job it was bought for. get one from a different manufacturer.the shop should allow you to exchange it so they have kept your custom.if they get arsy get a refund and go elsewhere.
