Obviously if a woman has ill treated or scared a dog the reverse would probably be true. Dogs react more to people's actions than their physiology.
A bit off the question, but dogs also use vision and hearing to recognise people. When we had a dog she used to hear me walking up the path at the side of the house, no way she could see me. One day I had a small injury to my knee and must have limped a bit, until she could see me she barked like a maniac.
