Sometimes when I settle down in bed and lay on my side I can hear a loud heart beat in my chest, at least I am still alive but it's a bit like Chinese torture so I turn over and then it is OK. It goes during the night. What causes this? Sometimes on the left side, sometimes on the right. Wish I could sleep on my back !
It may be a very common irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation 10% of the population have it and many are unaware of it. I would suggest going to your GP to get it checked out just in case it is as people who have this irregualar beat are at greater risk of a stroke, I have it and have to take warfarin. But everyone is different.
No heart problem or chest pain Sqad, statins only, for cholesterol. I don't get this every night, noticed it more lately though, will have a word next time I see dr. Thanks.
