Hoping one of you can help me. My gas Central heating doesn't appear to be working. I hadn't been using it at all until a few days ago when I set the timer to come on for an hour every morning and evening, along with the hot water. Last night and this morning I wanted it on after the time ended so pressed the override button and got nothing. Then I switched it to just 'on' rather than just the timer and still nothing. The light is on the panel but nothing's happening.
The radiators don't feel like they were on this morning and now I'm not certain it had actually come on when I started using it a few days ago.
Any simple suggestions? I really can't afford to get a plumber out.
Are there any indicator lights on the boiler, EvianBaby?
Ours occassionally loses pressure, shows a red light and stops heating the water. We have a short flexible pipe joining two small taps below the boiler which allow repressurisation and away it goes again.
Hope it's something as simple as that.
Not when I push the override button. Ive just changed the timer settings and it's fired up but that controls the hot water too so I'll see if it brings the rads on. Not even sure what a pump looks like :/
It seems to be working with the timer changed which is fine for now but I don't understand why it won't come on with overide or when it's switched to being permanently on. I don't want it running on the timer settings for ages because that means the hot water will be on all that time too.
Thanks The Builder. It may be something that's covered by my landlord but I'm paranoid it's because of something I've done wrong (not sure what) which would mean I'd have to fork out. I'll have to get it figured out though or I'll just end up with an astronomical gas bill. I'll give them a call this week.
Let me put your mind at rest over that one, Evie. Those controls on the panel are there for you to adjust or configure to suit you. Don't let anyone tell you that you can do any damage that way because you can't :o)
