i have been invited to three weddings this year (and a funeral ) and i would like to buy them an unusual gift as they are all already living together with their own houses so no household items needed. not too expensive though, say 30. any ideas.

I found a candle shaped like a champagne bottle in a gift shop a couple of weeks ago and plan to give it as a present along with a real bottle of champage to one of the four weddings I've been invited to this year.

I guess, since you are invited to the wedding, you actually know the couple or half of it.
So I would suggest you get something that corresponds with the couple's interest.

When my best friend got married I was still in college and could not afford much.
She was very much into photography, though, (as was I at the time).
So I got her some filters for her camera, and I also took all her wedding photographs for her.

In return for my wedding she made me my bridal bouquet.

Another friend gave us a dinner invitation in my husband's favourite restaurant, since they did not know what to get us, either.

We also got wineglasses (in addition of the three dozen we already had), a vase (in addition to the half dozen we already had), a food basket with great Italian food, and some bottles of wine.
The rest was money, however, I myself don't really like giving money for a present.

Just been to a similar wedding and, after quizzing the couple (who insisted they wanted nothing), I bought them a goat from Oxfam-unwrapped - you know, where the goat (or donkey or trees or whatever you choose) goes to help an African community. The couple receive a wedding giftcard and a pic of the gift - I think it was about 25.
Set of Photo frames that will match their living room for when they get their wedding photos back or a nice album to put them in :-)

Quizmonkey beat me to it; I was going to suggest that.

Hi If your friends are going on honeymoon why don't you get them some foreign currency for where they are going, after a wedding a bit of extra spending money is always useful.
