Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Certainly this theme was something new to me, and I am not sure that I understand all of its nuances but have managed to complete the final grid even so. Some very deft touches in both the clues and the endgame. Some (pedants) may argue that Quinapalus has jumped the queue but that bit of research may well not have been available at the time he submitted the puzzle. Many thanks to Mr Q for a challenging work-out and for the education (which is surely why we all love these puzzles so?).

Contendo - the repeated low A follows the composer's original notation. Agreed in a traditional twelve-tone note row no pitch would be repeated but the row in this piece also becomes a shorthand map of the entire work and so comes "home" at the end. I actually learnt this piece when I was a student so thought I was several steps ahead before I started but alas discovered that it was not that integral to the puzzle. Rather enjoyed the erasure instruction once I understood it
