Glow Plug

Car is at the garage as the engine warning zigzag light came on, I forgot to ask him, is it expensive, I need it done but i have no idea on price, can someone give me a rough estimate, please, it is suzuki vitara 1.9ddis 07, thanks all

If you having trouble with the Glows, get the 4 changed at the same time, time, around 4>>5 hrs depending where you take it, a dealer thats another price and storey.

The glow plugs aren't to expensive, however labour charges will depend on where you take it to be fixed.

the glow plug light comes on with the ignition and goes out after a few seconds (yellow/amber light)it should not come on with the engine running as a warning. the zigzag light as you describe, sounds more like the ignition/battery charging light (red) if its this one,it sounds like an alternator fault or could even be a broken fan belt. wouldn't have a clue about prices.hope this is some help. a fan belt repair shouldn't be to dear.

The book says, injection syetem malfunction, get to nearest dealer, the glow plug that i know about comes on when you turn key over twice, goes out, before I start the engine, is there glow plugs in the injection system? If so is it expensive, is there 4, thanks for all your help,

No the glow plugs pre heat the combustion chambers, so the diesel is easier to ignite on cold starting, josaphine. Sounds like your car will have to be plugged into a diagnostics computer to determine what the fault on the injection system is.

You can buy for about £10 from ebay a bluetooth OBD II reader, simply plugs into you cars diagnostic port (all the same since ~02?) and then link it to your smart phone via a free app, ie torque, this will give you the code so you will have an idea whats wrong, maybe a simple DIY fix. You dont always get the code, but if you dont then a 'back street' garage wont get you the code either so its main dealer or a diagnostic specialist.

Ton, its been on diagnostics this afternoon, the only fault that cameup was glow light, the book says that thereis a problem with the injection system, the dpf light came on at the weekend, so drove it up the motorway, dunno if that has anything to do with it? X

Did the DPF light go out after your drive on the motorway ?. However if the only fault that showed this afternoon was a glow plug problem the only thing to do is get them changed for a new set.

Yeah, it gave an almighty rumble, lost abit of power and then light went out, but the same thing happened back in january, and this sodden light went on then, I was told it was a cracked compression chamber, had that fixed, just wondering if this all goes back to dpf filter,

Did you notice any Black smoke as the car gave an almighty rumble and the light went out ?.
