Had a birthday this week and received pressies and cards, however, is it just me I truly want to forget them - they do depress me. One card from sister would do me. Sorry for the rant.

I am feeling down a bit and can't get motivated to get up and cleaning and get out. But I am going to force myself to make some kind of an effort.

Feel awful haven't answered the phone either - don't feel the need for inane talk.

jackthehat - where did I say "unwanted pressies" ? Can one no longer come on here and "talk" without being hurt.
That's my preference Prudie, my friend favours YSL!
And unsurprisingly the thread begins to unravel....

Conne, I'm sorry to say you have expressed your disquiet with gifts received in the past.
So the present were wanted but the cards weren't.....or have I misunderstood?

Don't be hurt Conne, jack's comment was genuinely funny

happy belated birthday grumpy drawers - now you have brightened my day. But you know there are more issues to me than my birthday. Bye guys
What don't you actually like about receiving presents?

conn. we are all entitled to feel down at times. as long as you have good days, hope harv is well, will sister be at your's for dinner tomorrow as usual ?
Conne...you sound a wee bit depressed....a chat with the GP perhaps?

Whatever I did for my mother I always got the same response....You shouldn't have wasted your money....what did you want to go spending money on me for....I could have boxed her ears...☺
Often she would give what I had bought to my sister in law and vice versa so we started buying things we knew each other would like...when we got it.

Conne...it's nice to be thought of...if you get a pressie or a card treasure it.....you've been thought of enough for someone to show that they care..
Lots don't have that pleasure....

Now put on the kettle and relax til you feel chirpy again...Gx

You're not alone Conne. I don't celebrate my Birthday either.

In my last job, I would either take the day or the whole week off work. I once had to work on my Birthday, and one of the Till staff was doing the time cards for the week - if she hadn't then she would never have told the Manageress. I even told my Sister and Nephews NOT to plaster it all over Facebook - I prefer a text message to my mobile. I have had some strange looks from people when I tell them that I don't celebrate it. It's just another day of the week to me.
