I have an artificial knuckle joint in my little finger ( PIP ) Does anyone know if there is a time limit on how long they last or are they permanent ?

Like hip joints.....there are Silicone and metal/plastic joints.....I don't know which you have, but i do know that they will "see you out."......;-)

OK......a good 12 years if they ar for you knuckles but if they are of other joints in the hands, they may well last much longer.
