If Quorn Is For Veggies

Why do they make their products look like sausages, fillets, minced meat, burgers etc. just seems a bit silly to me, shaping them to look like meat.

Its an ethical standpoint, not an culinary argument. So if vegetables, Quorn and other such things can be made into palatable foodstuffs, I'm not sure what the problem is.
Veggie friends of mine always say that the smell of bacon, sizzling gently in the frying pan is the hardest test of their resolve !

ummmm..I am intrigued !
You say that you don't like meat very much....all meat or just certain types of meat ? The only relationship that chicken, beef and lamb have is that they are all called meat, because they all have a very different taste. Sausages can taste of pretty well anything, for instance. Would you call yourself a vegetarian if you didn't eat meat because you didn't like the taste or would you refer to yourself as a non-meat eater ?

boxy...I thought that I answered that in my post of 07.47. Surely veggies don't eat meat from a ethical standpoint, not culinary. If some people don't like the taste of meat and therefore don't eat it for that reason, they are non-meat eaters, which isn't really the same as being a vegetarian is it ?
I think sprouts are dreadful and don't eat them. But I don't like them because they taste horrible, not because I am standing up for the human rights of the veg pickers in Lincolnshire that work under ghastly slave-like conditions..Things like Quorn and the like would be pretty well inedible, if no flavouring was added. It would just be a pallid, squidgy mess. What else could you make Quorn taste of...cabbage or strawberries ?

Thanks ummm ! I too like fish but despite being the son of a fishmonger, I really don't eat enough. As a Catholic boy in the 50's and 60's, we always had fish on a Friday, because the priest told us that we wouldn't go to heaven if we had meat ! We had far too much boiled cod for my liking though...the smell of it still make me want to heave.
