Can anybody advise about what to do with the remaining liquid when an object has been cleaned of rust using a home washing soda/ battery charger set up for electrolysis? Is it best to use a fresh mix of water and soda for each de-rusted item, or can you re-use the same mix for another item? If so., does this affect the efficiency of the process? How many goes can you have with one batch of the liquid?

Seems you can keep using the electrolyte till you think it's looking too disgusting! Have a read of this...

Many thanks heathfield. I've just done my first object, the blade of a Disston D8 "Thumbhole" saw which I'm rescuing. Results are spectacular, and I'd recommend this as a clean, non-abrasive method of getting rid of rust. The resulting electrolyte is pretty horrible though.
