Today I did our recycling at the local tip. There was no clear or brown skip for bottles, instead there was a notice saying "In the absence of brown and clear skips please put all colours in the green skip" so I did, but as I did it a refuse worker came by and I said this feels totally wrong. He replied it isn't because at the end of the day all three different coloured skips are mixed up together. Now I have religiously separated all my different coloured glasses ever since it started. I asked why do we normally have to use different skips then. He replied its a PC thing to make you feel better. He also said if you have paper and cardboard you can mix those too. This has made me think is all this recycling worth doing if this is what really happens?

Yes Vulcan our tip is like yours, a container for absolutely everything, even tinfoil an spectacles.
Jeza, lol about the wooden spoons and spatulas, been there done that
When I took cooking oil I was told to put it in the engine oil container. Then another worker told me I had contaminated it. At our tip you can't get it right for getting it wrong.
The video submitted by tonyav states; clear glass tends to stay within the UK so it can be made into new jars or bottles, for say jam or whiskey.

I know I'm being pedantic, but whiskey, with an 'e', is not produced in the UK, is it?. It's produced outside the UK in places like Ireland or the United States of America. I'm surprised British Glass let this error happen in their film. Someone should have noticed this mistake before the film was released.

And before you reply, yes, I am in the process of getting a life!
