Breakfast this morning, cyclists killed by HGVs / Motorist, they suggest banning HGVs in the Big Cities first thing in the morning, if Cyclist used the roads safely they would not be killed, how many times have you seen Cyclists go through Red lights/ coming up the side of you/ cutting in front of you, if they want rules for Cyclist, let them pay to use the road.

This is me, riding as per the Highway Code(that's why I included me stopping at the lights at the start of the video) in my brightest clothing on a white bike with lights on, even though it was daylight. Apologies for several expletives at the end!

When I was growing up cyclists were generally alone or very occasionally up to three. Clusters of sporting cyclists seen these days were very, very rare.
Other vehicles are not allowed to travel as close together as cyclists making it easy to overtake them.
A lorry would rarely be travelling so slow as a group of cyclists.

yes but for who? does this mean that children under 10 need to be banned from footpaths, lest they get run over by a cyclist?

would any of you have a problem with an elderly person riding one of the new electric assisted bikes on the pavement rather than him driving in a electic mobile buggy.

After seeing your views, do you not think it's up to the Road Transport Minister to start getting his finger out and start resizing the DANGER HGV's are to Cyclist on Left hand Turns also the thick motorist that can not unstand that the HGV is Indicating left whilst at the crown of a junction, this safety campaign should be televised to reduce the deaths of Cyclists, It should also say that it is Iligle to undertake a HGV that is indicating left with a rear sign saying, NO UNDERTAKING" Death's of cyclist's are caused, accidents are caused, by stupid inconsiderate people
Hang on TWR, what about all the cycle lanes. Are you going to make it illegal to ride up the left hand side of an HGV in them?
I regularly drive an artic in London, and where the road is wide enough I position myself far enough to the right so that cyclsts CAN ride up the left hand side. As I am very often moving far slower than a cyclist (or even more often not moving at all) this seems to me to be good manners.
If I didn't it would force them to ride down the middle of the road.

Most of the cyclists that have been asked for comment, are in denial, there has never been a cyclist in the wrong....ever.
When you ask they state they obey the rules and motorists are to blame in every case. Until this attitude changes they will continue to die. Drivers are not blameless, but you would think it doesn't take a lot of intelligence to work out, if you come up the left hand side of a stationary lorry, he can't see you.
On a road I drive down regularly, they have put in a cycle lane for about 400yds prior to a bus lane, I have lost count of the times a cyclist in this lane will just pull out to ovetake another without looking, indicating or seemingly being aware that its rush hour. If you toot, to say I am here, you get occassions when the cyclist deliberatly cycles in the middle of the road, prior to going through a red light.
Because thay die everyone seems to be in the wrong but in my experience thats far from true.

What many motorists fail to realise is that there are times when the Highway Code actually instructs cyclists to cycle in the middle of the road, such as at pinch points etc.
It's called 'taking primary' and is totally legal.
