Capturing Video

HI I would like to know how I can transfer video from the web to my windows movie maker to be able to incorporate it into my project ??
I would like to make a movie /stills / sound display for a large screen to show at a family party at Christmas - It will be basic ( thats ok ) it is only for fun too - it will include family pictures and video over laid with a sound track - I have seen some videos on the internet that look good to use - I have a basic movie maker programme ( windows movie maker ) Again please how do I do this thanks

Video editing isn't my bag but as nobody else has answered I will ask the obvious question - have you actually downloaded the video from the internet on to your hard drive?

Thanks both - I haven't been on for a while so didn't see the removed answer can only hope it wasn't offensive .... any way hc4361 sorry re read my question and thank you that is exactly what I am asking HOW do I download the video to my hard drive so that I can use it in a presentation - I can see now that I didn't actually ask that......and Alpha thanks for working out that was what I wanted to do and thanks for the link I will check it out

Removed posts are usually simply spammers trying to promote (often Indian or Chinese) websites. That particularly applies to posts in the early hours. (I've removed several hundred of them since I became a moderator!).

You've not told us which web browser you're using. That's relevant because you need an add-on to download web video to your hard drive. Some add-ons are better than others but, if you're using either (the dire) Internet Explorer or (the wonderful) Firefox, my own choice would be this one:

Once you've installed it (and, preferably, gone into the settings to choose where videos should be saved) you simply click a single button to save a video file to you hard drive.

If I understand ( and I dont think I do ) I use google chrome ?

If you're using Chrome, there could be a problem if the videos you want to capture are on Youtube. You're not meant to save Youtube videos to your hard drive because it infringes copyright legislation and break's Youtube's rules (but don't worry though; everyone does it!). Since Youtube is owned by Google it's unsurprising that Google won't allow any Youtube downloading add-ons to appear on the Chrome Web Store (because they're also behind Chrome). If you want to save videos that aren't on Youtube, you could try this:

(I've no experience of it; it just seems to be well-reviewed).

If you want to save Youtube (or, indeed any other) videos, I recommend downloading and installing Firefox:

(You can have as many different browsers as you like on your computer. You could either choose to switch to Firefox for all your web browsing or just use it for saving videos). Then install the Ant Video Downloader, using my link above. Once you've done that you'll find that there's an extra button at the top right of your Firefox screen, with a little downward arrowhead next to it. Click the arrowhead and select 'Preferences'. You can then choose the location you want to use for 'Downloaded Movies Folder'. Once you've done that, simply go to a page containing a video you want to save and click on the 'extra button'. The video will automatically be saved to where you want it.
