Napoleon Bonaparte was famous for saying " Not tonight, Josephine", but why, and in what context? And why is he famous for it?

Apparently, Josephine was one hot little lady and Napoleon couldn't keep up!! While Napoleon was away at war she had lots of lovers and didn't feel obliged to hide her husband's lack of virility. The English of course revelled in it!
