I can see a few potential problems. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

b) they'll be pounced upon as soon as they touch down, either by dogs or chavs

Amazon have a reputation for being one of the most visionary (and cut-throat!) retailers in the online space so I wouldn't dismiss anything they have an eye on out of hand.

Currently use of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) is very restricted at present both in the UK and US, the two main objections are safety and privacy issues (i.e. on-board cameras) but a lot or work and legislation is being done to address these and it does seem like it may be a reality someday.
today being dubbed cyber monday.....or something like that.....to do with today being considered the busiest on line shopping day.........maybe amazon brought this to the media today to make sure that amazon is on the mind of the cyber shoppers?!?!?!?
