I recently saw a person place a teaspoon in an open bottle of wine,does anyone know why ?

Apparently it keeps sparkling wine fizzy for longer but don't ask me why or how.
Supposed to slow Dow the release of bubbles in 'fizzy' drinks, such as Champagne.
It was most likely a bottle of sparkling wine with the intention if preserving the bubbles it has been the subject of much debate over the years.....IMHO it doesn't work just drink the damn stuff!
Weird. I'd have thought introducing a rough surface would encourage bubbles to form.

Must've been a narrow spoon.
bubbles don't have time to settle in this house
OG, it's not supposed to drop all the way into the bottle, you put it in handle first and the bowl sits at the bottle's mouth. Doesn't do anything though, been tested many times.
And unless you have a very long spoon, it's not going to reach any wine if the bottle is anywhere near half drunk.

The only open bottles here are empty !...lol
I used to work for an airline with a first class section.

On a long haul flight we tried it once with two open bottles of Moet et Chandon champagne, and to my amazement it worked.
