Police Bail Rights
7 Answers
I was arrested and placed on police bail pending further investigation. After approx 5mths, when I appeared at the station to answer bail, I was informed that I had been nfa. They didnt give me any written confirmation of this. Six weeks later I was picked up from my home address....not re arrested, because despite there being no new evidence, they had decided to issue me a caution. It all seems a little unfair and underhanded....are they able to do this?

Yes. Do you have any complaint? If you accepted the caution that is an end of the matter. No prosecution will follow, though the caution is on record . What else would you have the police do in your case?

I admitted to a lesser offence than that which I was accused of. When no evidence could be found I was nfa'd. The earlier admission of a more minor was then cautioned. I did accept the caution...i didn't realise you had a choice. I ask because two people who were arrested at the same time are still on bail 11mths later with no charges brought and it seems, a lack of evidence.
