Some Vets offer Best Start Kitten Packages which include the vaccines, dewormer, deflea treatments and food. Call your vet of choice and talk to them. We love to hear about new kittens!

8 weeks old is the appropiate age for the first round of vaccines and for his/her first doctor examination

I've had my cat for 7 years now and he's never had ANY form of vaccination. My mum's had cats for as long as I can remember and none of them have ever been vaccinated. Not one of them has ever had any of these scary diseases that vets rhyme off and collect millions for in the process. Cats, along with every other animal on the planet got by quite well before we started interfering and now, all of a sudden, all these new and deadly diseases are appearing... in my opinion, as a result of their own natural immune systems being deminished due to our over-eagerness to give them every jab possible.

That's lovely Dougie, but you're perhaps forgetting that vets actually see these diseases for themselves. I know countless cats who've lost their lives to leukaemia virus. If you could effectively be vaccinated against cancer, you would go for it, wouldn't you?

In answer to twinny, it depends on the vet and on the brand of vaccine that they use, because there is some variation. Most practices vaccinate at 9 and 12 weeks, followed by annual boosters, but you should check with your own vet. It's important to give vaccines at the correct age, to make sure they work properly.

after spending the last 4 days nusing a cat with cat flu im glad your taking the cat to the vets. ive seen plenty of cat with these scary diseases that vets rhyme off dougie69 and yeah maybe it is out fault for interfearing but the diseases are here now and its too late to do anything about them other than vaccinate.
