How much on average are people here finding they get charged by tyre fitters to dispose of their old tyres?

Just been charged £1.38 scrappage when I bought a new tyre.

I've just had 4 new tyres and didn't get charged a penny. Lucky me.

It was £1 last time, about three years ago, but a few weeks agoo it was £1.50. Plus VAT, of course.

Some tyre suppliers show disposal costs as a separate item, while others factor them into the new tyre cost.

Why should they charge, they flog them on!

Dodger, if they tried to cop me with a charge, I would have told them to remove the New tyres & refit the existing ones, rip off merchants. Is this another way to rip you off?

Of course they charge you - it's just that in some cases the charge is wholely or partly hidden in the cost of the new tyres they sell you.

If you think they flog them on turn up with a bunch of old tyres at qwick fit and offer them to them and see what they say!
