All suggestions welcome please - I have about 20 people (family) coming for a "buffet style" lunch the w/end after Christmas. It will all be family so no need to impress! I'm thinking of big bowls of veggie chilli, rice /couscous /tabbouleh and coleslaw. Also plenty of bread and cheese ,crisps etc. As there will be a lot of young people with hearty appetites, I feel i need some more things. Doesn't have to be veggie. Maybe a plate of little sausages. Any ideas? Thanks.
Have you thought of making some sliders? They are small breqd rolls with hot meat fillings - just google sliders for loads of recipes (we have shredded chicken but you can used pulled pork, beef, etc).
They do lots if buffet trays at Iceland, from sausage rolls to Indian/Chinese. Lots of choice which you can put it the oven all together. For children, chicken nuggets, potato wedges, salad sticks with dips, small pizza slices...
Apparently Iceland is half-price this weekend, too, so could buy and put it in your freezer.
We do small bowls of haribo, chocolate fingers, crisps , grapes too.
frozen cocktail sausages add 3 tablespoons of golden syrup cook in the oven, drain and serve as they cool they go sticky serve with cocktail sticks yummm
How about Stromboli (poncey, rolled up pizza) it's really cheap and you can make it in advance and freeze it and just chuck it in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes on the day. I make it quite often for us (7 of us) and my friend and her children (so that's another 4) there is always leftovers for snacking and lunch the next day, costs about £7/8 depending on how generous you are with the filling (I do smoked ham and cheese).
