I was persuaded to go on a Christianity Explored course because, they said ', it was aimed at atheists and confused believers'.

I have to say after the second session I couldn't stand the nonsense anymore. There was no 'Exploration' . Everything was highly selected. as were the questions which were 'loaded ' to get the acceptable answer.

The acceptable answer was one which supported their view that the bible was fact , end of story, there was no real attempt to explore miracles and events to see whether there might be alternative explanations.

I gave up, ! Maybe prematurely but I was looking for some research not hours of evangelising. Was I right to give up so soon. ?

More like 'Christianity Exposed' looks like to me.

I've long ago come to the conclusion that giving certain people precisely what they deserve will only wind you up in the quod.

Peter //"because they needed you" //

I think ' they believe they do' but in reality they are unable to cope with anything or anyone who might weaken their beliefs. Their response is almost invariably to quote more bible .

I was told recently that when God slaughtered thousands of sinless new born babies, as in Sodom and Gomorrah, he was actually helping them get to the joys of heaven sooner.
I once was told to say something I knew wasn’t true. I refused and was asked, What difference does it make as long as we get the point across? It was at this time in my life that my conscience began to bother me, and I started wondering about a number of things.

So to survive, we need to breathe, drink, and eat, just as animals do. But to be happy, we have a need that animals do not have—the need for understanding the purpose of life. Only the Creator of life can fill that need. Thus, Jesus said: Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need. (Matthew 5:3)

What facts are they fender?
/I once was told to say something I knew wasn’t true. I refused ....../ so why did you change your mind? Telling a lie (thou shalt not bear false witness) is a sin under christianity yet you continally propagate untruths. A lie is a lie even when you think it is the truth. There is no let out clause in the 10 commandments. If you don't know something is absolutely true then say nothing.
Goodlife - /the need for understanding the purpose of life. Only the Creator of life can fill that need./

As I understand it we are given a life, with free will thrown in, to make of what we can. Once we die and assuming we go to heaven we are then to spend eternity without free will praising the lord.

I think I'll pass thank you very much.
Agreed chrisgel, what I cannot understand is why so many seem to want extrinsic rewards for behaving with common decency towards ones fellow men. You do what you can for your family, friends and neighbours (in the broadest sense of that word and die happy if you are lucky. Involving a creator and a jolly afterlife seems rather pointless.
