Seek vetinary advice asap. Any bird that is off colour (and it does seem this way) needs to be seen straight away if possible. Parrots carry a disease that can be passed on to humans and it is quite common. I have experience of it. Please rule out the nasties.

Hopefully, he is fine, but you must seek proper advice.

Best wishes.

At 18 weeks you would not have had it very long. You could always inquire from the breeder, often they know more than vets, where birds are concerned. Find out from other bird people where a vet is in your area who does birds. It is difficult to say without seeing the bird, but from your description the bird is either pining itself sick at being left alone suddenly, or it has gotten hold of something it shouldn't have and eaten it.

Any sign of curtains, houseplants or plastic close to the cage being chewed?

There are very few diseases that develop overnight to the extend that the bird vomits the next day. That is not to say that you should ignore this... seek advice straight away indeed. Birds do not have much body mass compared to their size - you'd be surprised how small they are without feathers - so they do not last long when they are sick.

african greys are like kids, they need constant attention,do not let them live in a cage, sleeping in it is ok,but let them have freedom and constant attention. If you have to go out leave the parrot free to roam and leave the tv on downstairs and a radio on upstairs.Cover the cage at night,it'l soon learn, and just like kids, they can sulk, and they're good at that.Mostly they are hardy birds
