Aha, Avocet to the rescue again! Most kind of you. And Sharpham or Wemore makes a lot of sense, but I was trying to get letters V and H to fit in with one of the answers -which I prefer not to mention until Thursday next! But then I may well be wrong there as well.

Yes I think you are right. I t seems that we are both thinking the same as regards the author.

You're all on the wrong track.....the 20th century author in question two wrote a book from which a very famous TV series was made in the early eighties

Hi Brainiac, nice talking to you again. Salty and Wheelbrace got hold of the wrong The Wedding Day author - an easy mistake to make. But Avocet found the correct author for that particular clue. And, of course, you too are absolutely right with the second answer.
