24Hr Manometry Test Pain

I had this procedure done today and have the tube in my nose until tomorrow but am getting a fair amount of pain with it. The nostril the tube is in is really tender and painful at the top of the nostril. I have a headache that side, sharp pain, my jaw and gums that side also have a sharp continual pain.

I appreciate this is an uncomfortable procedure and it is indeed awful but I wasn't expecting this much pain. My jaw is so sore.

Is this the norm or has a nerve or similar been knocked or pressed on. It doesn't seem normal to me.

Oh my sounds sore, have no experience on this but have just read the guidelines from Guys Hospital - It should involve 'awareness' of the catheter and sometimes discomfort but bad pain does not seem to be expected.

If it becomes intolerable you can remove it yourself but of course it may not have recorded enough data for a diagnosis.

Did they not give you a number to call if in difficulty ??

I think that you mean "referred pain"........if the tube is irritating the back of the throat, pain may be referred to the ear or jaw........this is normal.
If you can't stand the pain then ring the number that you were given.
