But my daughter is getting married and has asked me to 'give her away'.
( I put it in apostrophes, whatever, cos I would never ever give her away. If you know what I mean?!)

I gave my daughter away as her dad had died previously. I was so proud but so nervous, I had to give the father/mother of the bride speech. I could hardly read my notes I was shaking so much, i really enjoyed the experience so go gal go for it.
