is it possible to trace IP address' cos my anti virus told me somewhere was trying to gain access to my PC

Yes you can track and IP address. But only to the company that the address is registed to. It will tell you the country, Area, and street of the company and the administrator. Most of the firewall software will out today will track most IP address. Hope this helps
