with regard to my question further down thanks for the answers but could i just ask where is the fillter on the washing machine if you havent got one of those little doors at the bottom of your machine theres a plastic section that clips of with a funny plastic thing thats held in place by 2 nuts would that be it (i know im proberbly soundin a bit thick ere lol) thanks

All depends what type of machine you've got, but if you still have the instructions, should be there.

if it's not to old. go to currys or simillar and ask a sales person about your machine. if they have one on display. they should be happy to show you where the filter is if you say you bought it from them.

If the filter is blocked ,and you are going to investigate ,please please please get a old towel as water is going to cascade all over your feet. Filter zones can be very different : in the Miele it ia an open circular area,in the Zanussi it was a special elongated baket ball hoop type thingy that you unscrewed and pulled up.Why don"t you give a spring clean to the soap dispenser drawer at the same time.
