Ask her. I'm not being sarcastic, you have to get into conversation first.

Try and find out if she likes the cinema, or theatre, then say you were thinking of seeing Film A or Play B, maybe she'd like to come witrh you? You should be ready to check her reaction, and decide if she is interested or not - she may have plans, but if she suggests something another time, then she probably would like to go out with you.

Try and assess if she knows it's a 'date' as opposed to just a friends' evening out - saves embarassment later.

Go along with andy's suggestion, its good, i'm happily married, but in my younger days, once the ice was broken, I followed the rule of, 'pay her a compliment, judge her reaction, ask her out'. it rarely failed.
