Adobe Flash Player

Hi, I recently installed a update of adobe flash player, now i keep getting a pop up box requesting to store information on my computer, I keep clicking the deny button but it keeps coming back up. How do I get rid of it for good.

Are you sure it was a genuine update to Adobe Flash?

A number of times recently I have had a "fake" window come up telling me to install Adobe Flash and I could see it was not a genuine request from Adobe (I work in computers so recognize these things).

Run some security software and see if it finds anything.

Note also that sometimes a genuine request from Adobe Flash may also install other software like Google toolbar or Google Chrome.

Make sure nothing has been installed you don't want.

Go into the Windows Control Panel and look at the list of installed programs. Sort it by date to see what the last few things were that got installed.

It sounds like a simple case of malware to me.

Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware to get rid of it:

You have installed a fake version .Download and run Malware Bytes and see if it finds anything. Also run a scan with your antivirus as well. You should have your old version of Adobe in your installed programs check it there. If it shows it there then the other is bogus software. Before you install the genuine version you must uninstall the old one using the uninstaller which you must download from the Adobe website. D

It sounds like you have a fake malware version of Adobe on your computer. Download and run Malware Bytes and see if it finds anything and remove it. Also run a scan from your antivirus and see if it finds anything. If you check your installed programs you should still have your old version still there. To remove this old version you must download the uninstaller from the Adobe website and run it to remove it, make sure you restart your computer after you complete the uninstall. You then can go back to the Adobe site and download the correct version for your OS and the install it make sure you close your browser before you start the install. After the install restart your computer.

Nobody seems to have considered the possibiluty of coincidence. There have been loads of posts about malware pop-ups during the past week; it's quite likely that the same problem occurring on Poppysix's computer is totally unrelated to her update of Adobe Flash Player.
