Zanussi Washing Machine Smashed Glass

my daughter bought a Zanuusi washing machine 4 weeks ago,when she came home from work the glass in the door was smashed and was leaking!! has anyone else heard of this happening?she thinks it is cos she put her wash on a 60 degrees but mine takes 90 degrees.she also cut her finger and got glass in her foot too and had to go to hospital.the company are making her wait for 6 days to change it!!

Sounds like a defect to me, at least the company are going to replace it. They can't do it overnight. The 60 degree thing sounds very unlikely.

A number of washing machines are prone to this, as a result of thermal shock.

After a hot-wash cycle, the next cycle results on cold water being sprayed directly onto the inside of the glass door (as the machine fills). This sudden temperature difference between the inner and outer surfaces of the glass is sufficient to cause the glass to break. With colder mains water at this time of year – it is an event most likely to occur in winter months.
