I dont think you will have any problems with moving roughly 40 miles away , Your eldest son is old enough to travel on puplic transport to visit his mother and maybe take your youngest son with him.
Good luck with the move.
my ex husband has moved about 40 miles away, and the children still go and see him every other weekend - he picks them up after finishing work on Friday, and then drops them home on Sunday evening. Never caused any problems. Good luck!
unless the moving away would mean their mum couldn't see them there shouldn't be a problem. possibly reasuring their mum that you would make sure she still gets to see them at least as often as she does now will appease her and the lads worries.
