If it has been boing on and off for 3 months, then it cannot be something that is immediately life threatening.
I cannot see that it is any thing to do with your drinking problem.
One co codamol is hardly likely to do anything
Take 600 mgms of Ibuprofen in one dose and repeat every 6 hours if necessary.
Reassess the situation in the morning.
It sounds musculoskeletal in origin.

" your insides throb"......that is quite a different description to your original " I have lower back pain"........
Do you mean that your lower insides throb or your upper insides throb ?
A confusing story which may certainly need the direct attention of a Dr to both elicit a more accurate medical history and perhaps to examine the offending parts.
If the pain is that bad and you are unwilling to give Ibuprofen a try then I can help no further.

seriously, go to the docs. what you've described might not be alcohol related, but the doc will have seen and heard everything before. you should go. ring tomorrow and make an appointment. it's hard enough to get to see a specialist, so you might as well get in and start the ball rolling.
best of luck

Dear twoboys,
(a) See you doctor ASAP.
(b) Do not take any medicines except those prescribed or advised by your GP.
(c) Do not use OTC (Over-The-Counter) painkillers as you might only use this as an excuse to yourself for not visiting your GP.
If codamol is really a mix of codeine+paracetamol, as I suspect, and that doesn't work then nothing else will, except your GP's prescription. But re your tummy, codeine can cause tummy probs., notably constipation.
(d) It does not sound alcohol-related but you are drinking too much per day - stop or limit it to 1-2 glasses per day.
Can you do this, irrespective of your pain or are you continuing your overdrinking using the pain as an excuse?
(e) Have you had a recent fall hitting your "bottom"?
Do not panic or worry - back-pain is common for various non-serious reasons, but please put your embarrasment aside and see your GP. Just arranging an appointment might relax you and help your pain.
Many of people have a low pain-thresh-hold, maybe you do.
With Sincere Best Wishes,

Dear twoboys,
Very well done dear!
Sciatica is no fun but I don't believe it's as bad as you seemed to fear by any means. It's just in inflammation of the nerve - often triggered by cold and certainly made worse by it - surprise surprise at this time of year! Apart from your GP's advice/medicine always remember that warmth is one of the best medicines. So keep central heating on as long and as high (18-22 deg Centigrade) including night-time if possible - better then piling on the duvets/blankets which take a lot of work just to turn yourself over - lol.
Nope you are defo not an alcoholic but you've just got into a rather unhealthy habit. Just cut it down and don't drink alone if possible.
With very best wishes and well done for you courage in seeing the GP so quickly - bet you feel better already.
If disagrees with any of the above - take his advice rather than mine.
