Humber, today at the hospital I went in with my laden bag of goodies. One of the nurses said "I hope you don't have a bottle of Whisky in there" My reply was, no Mic's a Bacardi drinker. Her face was a picture. She followed me to Mic's room and watched me unpack the bag.
Today when I entered the ward I was stopped by the Sister in charge, she said the nurse didn't find my answer funny. I said I thought it was a joke so I answered in a joking manner.
I didn't think I did anything wrong. Do you think I did?

If you have any favourite nurses, physios etc get them on side they can help support your wishes
Ask to attend any future case conferences and do everything you can to stay pretty much in their faces. I know from experience patients with a visible and vocal loved one get a better deal than those with either no one or someone who has been too trusting. But don't rule out the care option completely. there are very good ones out there and if not right now it can be your safety net in the future especially for respite care.
A neighbour where I used to live had a package (he had to pay around half the costs) that included a whole host of adaptations to his home so he could bring his wife home wet room etc including three x2 carer visits per day and home physio for her. she had a very dense cva and they were in their eighties but it can be done. but it is a hard road and he needed to release almost all the capital in their home to do it.

I had this problem with FIL....social services wanted him in care home..Alzheimer's and cancer......I'd promised him I wouldn't let that happen..so I got on my high horse and kicked and screamed till I got him home ! He'd never have survived in a home.....think they were glad to get me off their backs in the end.....so you jolly well dig your heels in jeza ! .....Good luck to you ! Xx
