Morning All!

Blimey, I am earlier than boaty. He'll be along shortly. I expect.
Very windy but dry outside.
Busy day in prospect. A dog show thirty miles away in the morning. It's gundogs today, and I have been asked to find a bitch cocker spaniel puppy. So far, I have tried over thirty breeders on the Kennel Club list and found just three pups, from two litters at the same breeder. So it's down to networking through dogdom; someone will know someone who knows someone, and so on; and ending up with a pup from the north of Scotland. It always works that way; one of the wolfhounds came from there.
After that, Cambridge panto for the matinee. I shall go alone. No friend or family member fancies it. I have promised them I won't wear my dirty mac or carry a bag of sweets. I go every year to a panto somewhere. Apart from the corniness, it's such a delight to see children experiencing what is often their first experience of live theatre. (Ooh, look, that person off the telly is a real person ! And that's a band, not just guitars and drums or synthesisers!)

We lost ours when a coop blew over in the storm killing her, the cockerel is pining and refuses to leave the area where I found her body, the two were inseperable. We just had the one pair as they are quite rare and delightful little things, well after a few days of searching we have found our cockerel (Rocky) a new mate. So this morning we have a 150 mile trip to fetch her and hopefully put a smile back on our Rocky*s beak. They now have a bigger and better coop where just the two of them can live together, they free range during the day though, unless we are collecting their eggs for hatching. So we have a busy day today :-)
I used to book concerts being Union Entertainments Sec - the biggest signing was taking the Caird Hall over at Dundee for Genesis on their comeback tour, the first one after Phil Collins took over from Peter Gabriel - that sorted out the Union o-draft! This was right at the time when we broke away from the NUS and today the legacy is that the Uni now runs the union services of 4 other universities....
Ok, we have an even happier ending to the tale. over the last few weeks we have been placing the Silkie hens eggs in the incubator, unfortunately during the storm when we lost the hen we also had a power cut for about 5 hours, during that time all the eggs in the incubator went cold despite our best efforts to keep them warm. We pretty much gave up on the eggs but left the incubator turned on just in case, guess what! today we heard a a little squeaking coming from the incubator, one silkie egg has hatched, so fingers crossed it will be a hen and that we may get a few more hatch. We are delighted :-) she was a very special little bird and so tame we used for the Animal Assisted Therapy as she was happy to be held and cuddled.
