That would be a reason for ruling that the case should be reported. Indeed, it may well have been, judging from the judge's remarks when reversing the decision. It is peculiarly difficult to defend a lawyer, either before a court or a professional body, because you sense the indignation and bias against the accused in those doing the judging. The riposte to anything you suggest as being an innocent mistake or prompted by some temporary error of judgment is always "But this man is a solicitor!"
