how do i connect apple tv

how do i connect applle tv to a 2 channel stereo
amplifier. and get sound,I HAVE A TOSHIBA HD TV, DENON AMP, AND VIRGIN
TIVO BOX, MY AMP ONLY HAS PHONO TYPE CONNECTIONS,

I know abolutely nothing about Apple TVs but the spec page indicates that there's only an optical audio output:

In which case you'll need to convert that signal to an analogue RCA (=phono) one:

thanks for your logical advise, I have now got great sound to go with
the great pictures,by sheer coincidence, I was talking to a friend gave my a D.A.C HE NO LONGER USED and he has given it to me.
