Here's a company that will sell you old papers (rather thanlet you view them online: don't think that's available anywhere): http://www.remember-when.co.uk/ . Or you can go direct to the paper of your choice, which may or may not be the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/newsroom/story/0,11718,7

www.nytimes.com takes you to the New York Times. There you may subscribe to 'today's headlines' which does give you access to all front pages from their archive and online (which means a very long way back) . You can also access the text of the lead items. Generally the British library newspapers section may be able to help on www.bl.uk/collections/newspapers.html
There are two advertisers in "The Times" each day from whom you can buy copies of newspapers back to the late 1800's.
The Really Nice Company, 99 High Street, Markyate, Herts sells videos of the major events of each year going back to the early 1900's. They are clips from the film news of each year, mainly Pathe News. Very interesting, and run in excess of 90 minutes. Just less than 10 each.
