1) Book good hotel and flights for two people from 23/12/13 to 1/1/ 14, in Madeira

2)Book dogs into boarding kennel for that week ; in my case eight dogs

3) get told , on 13/12/13 by NHS that you must be in hospital for two days, being one night pre the investigating procedure and one day for the procedure viz Christmas Eve and the day before

4) Cancel hotel rooms and get instant refund

5) Flights non-refundable, but American Express Insurance indemnify in full

6) Cancel boarding kennel

Total saving £5,800.

Fred.....you're putting a lot of us to shame here and you've made me tearful.

My love....spend the lot....enjoy sharing it with loved ones...then in two years when it's all gone and something wonderful happens we'll sub you through the next twenty eight...♥
Fred - you are one of the saner AB members, I am so sorry to hear your news.

I suppose being warned about the outcome does give you a chance to tie up all the loose ends. Leave all your dosh to your doggies.

Take care. Susan. X
Fred, this is awful news and you do not deserve this.

I do hope things are more optimistic than they say...or the consultant is wrong. (I expect you will have no choice but to listen to them but it doesn't mean that you can't be defiant)

I'm just wondering how you must be feeling ... I'm upset for you.

extremely sorry to hear this, Fred, but I trust I shall have the pleasure of reading your posts for a long time yet.

I should imagine you do Fred, the day my dear husband got his diagnosis is imprinted on my mind, I could only ever guess at how it felt to him.

Dear Fred, just try to keep upbeat. My sister was given 1 yr to live in 2011 and told to go to visit relatives etc round the world while she could, she is still alive and kicking, nothing more to be done, has painkilling infusion once a month in her neck, and still helps out at the hospice, she is 74yr, and has put all her house in order and is amazing, it's all down to attitude. Hope etc!
Sorry to hear your news, Fred. Your judicious views here in AB are always worth the reading and I hope you'll continue to be posting them for a long time to come.
always expect the unexpected, but never that, my sympathies are with you entirely
sheeeeeeeet fred, that's horrible news, i enjoy your posts and hope to be reading them for a while yet x
