My friends son is going to work in Vietnam for 12 months, he has a house which is currently for sale and would like his mother to sign any contracts etc on his behalf. What does my friend need just to have temporary powers.
He needs an "Ordinary Power of Attorney" which is the kind needed for a finite period. You could do it yourself, but it might not be accepted in some quarters, e.g. banks. Best to see a solicitor. They may well have the appropriate form to fill out.
go to a solicitor that you have chosen to convey the house
( I realise from the text the house is for sale but there is at present no offer)
and say to the fella - what do you need for the mother to contract on the son's behalf ? I would have thought - but I am not legal - that a letter of intent might do. (much cheaper)
I have suggested that any documents regarding the sale could be sent to Vietnam via Fax, signed and then faxed back, is this right or am I giving false information.
Seems the solicitor handling the sale of the property has said he cant do the power of attorney thing. Another solicitor would need to be employed. Can I just say that I am just trying to get information for my friend and appreciate any help. I will pass on what has been said here. Thanks all.
