XBox 'what to buy' info needed

Advice is needed. I'm maybe going to buy hubby an xbox360 for Christmas. Can anyone tell me the best to buy? I see you can get premium, elite and several others. What would you all recommend. Also which games do you recommend bearing in mind he plays games like Amercan McGees Alice and the Myst, Riven etc series on his Mac.

if he will be downloading and storing many files, then get the elite as it has a bigger hard drive.
if he wants it just for gaming get the premium.

I agree with Mattk re the elite. whatever you get he will want to go online so make sure you factor in an xbox live membership.

Oblivion is a fantastic open adventure game.

If he does any shooters then the call of duty series is good. I also spend hours playing Ghost Recon

My bfriend doesn't store files, connect to the internet, or need wireless controllers, so I got him the cheapest one, what ever that is called. The main differences I could see with the packages were if you wanted to go online or whether you wanted wireless controllers or not.

Wireless controllers sound good but I think that means charging them up all the time - what a pain.

You will have to remember back as to if he has mentioned playing games online with other people - if so you will have to get the 'live membership' as well'

But then again I'm just a girl and well I am not the best judge, I just thought girl to girl might help. I also got my bfriend a sound rocker chair which is so cool:

Just two more questions if you don't mind. Is a wire free handset better? I just read that the batteries don't last long.
Second question ... for a first time gamer, should I buy the premium xbox or stump up the extra �50 and get the elite? What do you think. And once again, many thanks for all the help.

My opinion only but..

yes to the wireless controller but get one of the rechargeable battery packs as well. It can be nice to be able to get comfortable while playing without worrying about the cables,
and..

Premium, unless you know he is going to want to download lots of video. If this is being bought as a pays machine the premium should be more than enough.
