Ear Piercing Going Bad?

Hi
My 5 yr old daughter got her ears pierced about 3 weeks ago. Up to last few days they have been fine. She turns them ok and we clean them with the stuff provided regularly. So last night I noticed that the back of one lobe has a red lump. She hadn't complained until then (and she is a mega drama queen) but really complained when I put the stuff on, and when I turned it, it bled a little and a little watery stuff came out. Just did it again and when I turn the back (big starter back thing) it looks as if the edge has broken the skin. She can't remember bumping it. I done really know what to do for the best. I have heard that you mustn't take out the earring as any infection can get trapped in there. Its not embedded or anything, but i cant loosen the back as it has a ridgy bit to keep it on. Any advice please?

If my position as a mod means I can't comment on a post as a 'normal' user sqad, then I'll officially hand in my badge as id rather be the latter than the former :-)
Are you a Rocker Sqad?
off he's rocker!!
BOO...then hand in your badge.

That would be a pity as I regard you as one of the best Mods.

It's just you Doc Martins that worry me at times.
Ha ha, nice one. A very helpful rocker at times though. Careful what you say Sqad cos I am a mod too ...
Hate to be negative, but my original response was "get them out and let them heal".
I hate the thought of young children having piercings. In my opinion, it's child abuse (may sound drastic).

Let us know how she got on... :-(
I also can't bear the idea of small girls having pierced ears, but I know lots of them are keen to have them. I would take the earrings out, let the ears heal and do it again in a few years.
Maybe she has been fussing with them when you haven't seen (with grubby five year old hands). I would take them out (but I have to be honest I wouldn't have let her have them done in the first place).
My g/daughter is a drama queen. Her mum had the perfect solution, magnetic studs, in all colours, happy child, happy mum, happy gran, comfy ears.
