Thing 1 (titchy five year old who is 'full of beans') came out of school today with a little envelope saying her tooth had fallen out and that it was in the envelope. Turns out it was a little white stone and that five teachers/dinner ladies had spent most of lunchtime checking her mouth for a 'gap'!

She was convinced she's lost a tooth, tears all the way home.

Aww bless her, they are funny aren't they - my 3 year old Grandson arrived here from Nursery on Tuesday and announced he had broken his leg. The next three hours consisted on the limp moving from one leg to the other and then for a while none at all.

What was such a stone doing in the meal ?

It's £1 a tooth but at the moment is #2 is losing teeth like its going out of fashion, thing 2 has lost some teeth and I'm just waiting for girl to lose some more.

The stone wasn't in her meal (packed lunches), she always seem to have stones about her person (and glitter and sequins).

When I was a kid I once put a tooth in the fish tank, expecting to find drowned fairies in the morning.

Instead there was a coin (sixpence I think) and my brother convinced me that the fairies had a little submarine.

Thinking about it, that's actually something thing 1 might try - when her teeth do start coming out I will have to keep on eye on her.

when I lived in Sharjah [ next town to Dubai] and a Brit kid used to loose a tooth there was a frantic search amongst expats for small UK cash to put under the pillow of the child, there is was no way the tooth fairy would have flown all the way from UK and left UAE dirhams under the pillow.
