Yes.
Sorry I pressed submit by mistake.

Unless the car is too close to a junction or causes other danger or obstruction for which a fixed penalty notice can be issued.
They'll probably come back when it moves and finish painting the lines!

thanks.another car has now parked in front on the double lines so i guess they are being ignored anyway.thanks for reply

will be a while i expect the exhaust has fallen off.its hanging on the ground..LOL.but yes i guess you are right.mind you they did try to move it.four people tried.not very strong eh..

They will complete the painting but until they do you can park anywhere on the double yellow lines not just in the gap!

Double yellow lines have to be continous throughout their length to be enforcable with a short yellow line blocking off both ends.

so until a short yellow line is painted that end, anybody can park all aound the corner of the road..this will be extreemly dangerous driving i would say.hopefully this wont be for long.thanks for your replies
Just because the double yellow lines cannot be enforced does not mean you will not receive a summons for other offences, such as causing an obstruction.

For example - it is illegal to park within 10 metres of a junction, on a hump back bridge etc.

You would still get a ticket, it also goes by the signs posted on the street. If your within that zone then they have a right to ticket your car.

I have another question. Not exactly along the same lines as Encee's but there seems to be a few people here that know more about road signs than me.

There is a section of road in our town centre that is closed to traffic during certain times. The restriction times are signposted. But only at the entrance to the restricted zone. There are some parking spaces just before the zone that, if they are full, you can normally drive past.

Not realising what time it was.. I did just that and was met by a Traffic Warden. He informed me that it was illegal to be on that stretch of road at that time.

I pointed out that there was no-where to turn and that it was illegal to reverse onto a public highway. The safest escape was forward (carefully.. obviously). He conceded and let me go.

My question is. What is the law on this situation. Are you ment to wait in your car until the restriction ends before you can drive through a restricted zone at the end of a one way street?

The answer given by Lynners assumes that there are restriction plates attached to lamp-posts (or elsewhere) along the street. There have been many cases where it has been ruled that these plates still apply even if yellow lines are not present (e.g. when a road has recently been resurfaced). However, the requirement for these restriction plates to be displayed in 'double-yellow' areas was dropped 3 years ago.

there are no signs saying anything just 2 yellow lines that havent been finished but as my husband has now pointed out ..the old original lines are in fact still there under the car..so thats my question answered i think.not allowed to park there.there is currently 3 cars parked there.Hmm

get a high powered rifle and every time a traffic gestapo goes near your car....wham! positives: cuts down on parking tickets, removes pests off the streets, keeps ammo makers in a job. negatives:piles of rotting trafic wardens in the street will lower property values, may have to spend a few years in the slammer if caught.(small price)

please don't take this seriously folks, you should allways treat these people with respect. even when they are writing out a ticket stood beside a sign that states the vehicle is ok where it is at that time. happened to me, a plod came allong and explained to the warden how the 24 hour clock worked!!!! how many people had this cretin illegaly ticketed?
