Cannot Reserve Seat On Ba Flight
20 Answers
Booked flights yesterday to LA in March. Trying to reserve seat (I know it costs, but it's important), but site will not let me. Phoned BA (expensive); was told that he could open the correct screen and see the seating plan. I can't. Have tried Chrome (my usual), IE (used this last time I booked with BA) and Firefox, but the same thing happens. I can highlight the passenger name but it will go no further. Any help would be much appreciated.

When I click on my name it just comes up with the number 1 next to it; just below that, the 'main deck' is checked. There is no seating diagram, though the man I spoke to said he could see it on his screen when he opened my booking ref. Perhaps I'm going to be the pilot?!
You could also put the plane into google and get a seating plan if you know it eg 747 seating plan - not that you should have to. This is just an example link

I don`t know what time in March you are travelling but airlines change their schedules in March (when the clocks change) and that is when they switch aircraft types, configurations etc. Maybe that is why you can`t choose your seat (although if the customer service agent couldn`t help then maybe there is some other issue). I would try again in the next few days.
I don`t know what you mean by username but anyway..
One flight is a 747 (World Traveller Plus will be on the main deck) and the other flight is an A380 so it will be upstairs. Go to manage bookings, enter your name and booking reference in the boxes. Go to choose seats (I think it`s on the upper right of the page). Click that and you will see the seat plan of your cabin. You should be pre-assigned a seat which will be grey (a little sitting person figure) Click on it (you don`t have to drag). Then see where you want to sit and click again. The little icon will move and highlight green (if I remember rightly). It might say something like confirm seat, save changes or something like that. Exit booking. There might be a video of the process on the internet somewhere.

Sorry 237SJ and Cathyhuns, I haven't checked back on this since Sunday. I succeeded after a night's sleep....I had gone through the process quite easily last time (over 2 years ago) and couldn't see why I couldn't get it to work this time; got in a bit of a tizzy and was timed out twice. Have now chosen two nice seats (one for each way, I don't need two at a time). Incidentally I am still terrified at the thought of the 388 and was relieved to find that the return flight is a nice little Jumbo!
